We are pleased to announce the opening of a unique, international dining experience, as American Tandoor opens Friday, October 30, 2015, located just seven miles west of Washington, D.C., in Tysons Corner, Virginia.
American Tandoor pays tribute to the unique, vibrant flavors of India through standout dishes with multiple levels of authentic spices and fresh ingredients. The outcome is a delicious blend of India’s eclectic culinary heritage with contemporary American dining influences.
The American Tandoor vision has been realized and brought to life by Karan Singh. Raised in Northern India and the U.S., Karan’s strong connection with and passion for both cultures and cuisines has translated into the American Tandoor concept.
Karan works in conjunction with Executive Chef Ramin Coles and their culinary team to create the remarkable menu. One that showcases authentic Indian classics heightened with American-centric twists, delivering unique flavor combinations. For example, our traditional Saag Paneer is topped with American flavor profiles of Jack cheese and white cheddar.
The impressive menu features breads, Chaat, salads, vegetables, sandwiches, and signature, Indo-Chinese and Tandoor style dishes, all developed with 16 unique spice blends that are toasted and ground in-house. From warm, building spices to feisty and fiery, American Tandoor offers a variety of dazzling flavors, styles, and ingredients for their daily lunch/dinner service, as well as an amazing Sunday buffet brunch. And the desserts! Let us tempt you with specially created, sweet creations such as Banofee Pie, Chocolate Fondue, Pot de Crème, and Chai Tiramisu.
The heart of the restaurant’s design is the tandoor oven area, which offers guests an enticing glimpse into our traditional cooking methods.The overall design, developed with the architectural and interior design team at HapstakDemetriou+, along with consulting from Grupo7, is a warm and welcoming aesthetic, featuring elements of classic Indian style flecked with modern accents and bold colors such as saffron and teal.
The dining room, which seats approximately 136 guests, delivers both glamor and comfort. The perfect setting for guest gatherings from family outings and business luncheons to relaxed, casual weekend brunches or a great night out with friends. Additionally, there will be a seasonal patio where approximately 60 guests can enjoy dining alfresco.
As we believe that Tandoor cooking is a perfect accompaniment for the aromatics of gin, we’ve made gin the main focus of our bar program. From gin + tonics and classic India-centric cocktails to American Tandoor creations and selections of ‘mock-tails’ for those non-imbibers, all beverages are made from scratch, using only the freshest and finest of ingredients; served from our specially designed 1920s London-influenced bar.
Our restaurant consulting team, VSAG, is utilizing their expertise and helping us enter the growing global food market in the United States.
