Restaurateur Karan Singh announced today his plan to open his inaugural restaurant concept, American Tandoor [7943B Tysons Corner Center; 571.633.1820], on Friday, October 30, 2015 at Tysons Corner Center, the bustling retail destination in Northern Virginia’s tech corridor.
“I’ve always felt that there was a huge opportunity for Indian food in this country. American Tandoor will present authentic Indian flavors in an approachable and innovative way, unlike anything anyone has seen before,” revealed Singh. “I am very excited to watch people fall in love with American Tandoor and Indian food!”
American Tandoor’s menu will showcase India’s electric culinary heritage with an American influence. Singh recruited his accomplished team months ago to help bring the concept to life. Singh’s talented culinary friend, Chef De Cuisine Satinder Vij, flew from India to be on the American Tandoor opening roster. Executive Chef Ramin Coles and Managing Partner Christine Baker are also key players in this exciting new venture. With Chef Satinder leading the way, this team is responsible for creating and executing the menu which features 16 unique spice blends, each made in-house. The restaurant will offer a wide selection of Indian favorites with a twist such as samosas filled with sweet potato and marshmallow and saag paneer, a dish traditional to the Punjab region, made with warm, creamy spinach and paneer cheese, served with naan.
The new Tysons restaurant will also offer a brunch buffet on weekends from 10am-3pm. Indian inspired breakfast favorites will include buttermilk and chocolate dosa waffles, benedicts on griddled naan and tandoor bacon. As no brunch is complete without cocktails, American Tandoor will offer Indian inspired drinks like an American Tandoor Bloody Mary with Indian chile-infused vodka and a spiced tomato blend, and spiked blackberry lassi, prepared with vodka, spiced-blackberries and house-made yogurt.
Guests will receive a firsthand look at the culinary artistry of traditional Indian kitchens upon entering the 4,000 square foot space. Tandoor ovens will be the heart and center of the open kitchen, decorated in a contemporary Indian style that will surely warm guests’ hearts and mouths. Upon opening, the restaurant will offer lunch and dinner Monday through Friday starting at 11:30am, with brunch and dinner offerings on the weekend.
